Design and implementation of solutions for cash flow prediction using Microsoft Power Platform

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je potvrdit hypotézu, že Microsoft Power Apps lze využívat pro write-back v kombinaci s využitím technologie Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services a reportingem v Microsoft Power BI. Předpoklad je ověřen na příkladu predikce cash flow. Prvním z dílčích cílů je prozkoumání možnosti propojení Power Apps, Power BI a Power Automate při přípravě reportu a write-back nástroje pro uživatele sledujícího výstupy v Power BI, a to včetně zhodnocení jednotlivých možností a omezení využití uvedených služeb. Dalším z dílčích cílů je realizace predikce cash flow s využitím vizualizací v nástroji Power BI. Posledním z dílčích cílů je zhodnocení celého řešení predikce cash flow s využitím nástrojů platformy Microsoft Power Platform. Výsledkem práce je funkční prototyp řešení pro predikci cash flow zasazený do kontextu současného reportingu vybrané společnosti a případné vyvrácení/ potvrzení základní hypotézy.Práce je určená zejména pro zájemce o nové koncepty řešení ve spojení s nástroji a službami Power BI, o možnosti zpětného zápisu do databáze (write-back) přímo ze sestavy Power BI, či pro uživatele zabývající se možností predikce cash flow v kontextu Business Intelligence bez využití matematických predikčních modelů. Vhodná je taktéž pro uživatele zkoumající nové technologie společnosti Microsoft Corporation.

Abstract:

The main goal of this thesis is to confirm the hypothesis that Microsoft Power Apps can be used for write-back in combination with the use of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services technology and reporting in Microsoft Power BI. The assumption is verified on the example of cash flow prediction. The first of the partial goals is to explore the possibility of connecting Power Apps, Power BI and Power Automate when creating a report and a possible write-back tool for users monitoring the outputs in Power BI. Also evaluation of individual possibilities and limitations in the use of these services. The next partial goal is to evaluate the creation of cash flow prediction using visualizations in the Power BI tool. The last of the partial goals is to evaluate the entire cash flow prediction solution using the tools of the Microsoft Power Platform. The result of this work is a functional prototype of a solution for cash flow prediction set in the context of the company's current reporting and a possible refutation / confirmation of the basic hypothesis.The work is intended mainly for users interested in new concepts of solutions within the visualization tool Power BI, the possibility of writing back to the database (write-back) within Power BI or for users dealing with the possibility of creating cash flow predictions in the context of Business Intelligence without use of mathematical prediction models. It is also suitable for users exploring new technologies Microsoft Corporation.
