Factors of the local environment and people: a case study of the development of the municipality of Doubrava.

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je případová studie obce Doubrava. Hlavním cílem této práce je detailně analyzovat historické a aktuální faktory ovlivňující rozvoj obce. Po provedení analýzy faktorů rozvoje je cílem určit směr, kterým se rozvoj obce ubírá, a na základě následného zhodnocení situace navrhnout doporučení. K naplnění určeného cíle práce byla využita literární rešerše, která pomohla lépe pochopit historický kontext celého mikroregionu Karvinska, demografická analýza a dotazníkové šetření s 56 respondenty, které umožnilo přesněji určit potřeby místních obyvatel. Odpovědi na otázky byly vyhodnoceny pomocí popisné statistiky a zkoumáním asociace mezi názory mužů a žen prostřednictvím kontingenčních tabulek. Zjištěné výsledky poukazují na důležitost nálezu černého uhlí na území Ostravskokarvinského revíru, které se zapříčinilo o rychlý rozvoj oblasti. Naopak útlum těžby přináší jak potencionální příležitosti, tak i výzvy formou negativních environmentálních důsledků a vysoké nezaměstnanosti kvůli nízkému uplatnění na trhu práce. Spokojenost respondentů s místem bydliště byla poměrně vysoká, přednosti obce převažovaly nad nedostatky. Většina respondentů si byla vědomá problematiky spojené se záporným celkovým přírůstkem populace, proto více než 86 % osob uvedlo, že jsou pro přistěhování nových obyvatel do obce. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že ženy jsou v obci aktivnější než muži ve všech zkoumaných aspektech, které zahrnovaly trávení volného času, navštěvování místa plánovaného záměru a zájem o specifické informace související s realizací záměru.

Abstract:

The topic of the bachelor thesis is a case study of the village of Doubrava. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze in detail the historical and current factors influencing the development of the village. After the analysis of the development factors, the aim is to determine the direction in which the development of the village is heading and to propose recommendations based on the subsequent assessment of the situation. In order to fulfil the stated objective of the thesis, a literature search was used to better understand the historical context of the entire Karvinsko microregion, a demographic analysis and a questionnaire survey with 56 respondents, which enabled the author to more accurately determine the needs of the local population. Due to the small sample of responses, the questions were evaluated using descriptive statistics and by examining the association between men's and women's views through contingency tables. The findings point to the importance of the discovery of hard coal in the Ostrava-Karviná district, which has been responsible for the rapid development of the area, but it is also pointed out that the decline of mining brings both potential opportunities and challenges in the form of negative environmental consequences and high unemployment due to low labour market participation. Respondents' satisfaction with the place of residence was relatively high, the strengths of the village outweighed the weaknesses, and most participants were aware of the issues associated with negative overall population growth, hence more than 86 % of people indicated that they were in favour of new residents moving into the village. The results of the contingency tables showed that women were more active in the village than men in all aspects examined, which included leisure time, visiting the site of the proposed development and interest in specific information related to the development.
