Physical therapy for an adult subject with lumbar vertebral fracture: case report

Abstract:

I chose this clinical case of chronic vertebral fractures because I was very interested in for two reasons, the first is that this patient was under my supervision, so I was able to evaluate and treat the patient personally. The second was to show how scientific progress has developed in research. The concept of neuroplasticity, at the time of the injury, was not known. He was told that he would remain in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He would no longer be able to recover despite him being in his mid-twenties. Surprisingly, the team managed to improve several aspects in just a few weeks, even though almost thirty years have passed since the accident. I expected to see an immediate reduction in pain, given that it was an incorrect posture pain. My goal was to try to balance his center of gravity during the treatment.

Abstract:

Ho scelto questo caso clinico di fratture vertebrali in cronico perché mi hanno colpito molto due motivazioni, il primo ? che questo paziente mi era stato affidato dalla struttura, quindi ho potuto valutarlo e trattarlo personalmente. Il secondo ? per dimostrare quanto i progressi scientifici siano andati avanti nella ricerca. Il concetto di neuroplasticit?, nel momento in cui ha avuto la lesione, non era conosciuto come adesso, quindi gli era stato detto che sarebbe rimasto su una carrozzina per il resto della sua vita e che non sarebbe stato pi? in grado di recuperare nonostante nel momento del trauma aveva circa vent'anni. A sorpresa di tutto l'equipe ? riuscito a migliorare parecchi aspetti in poche settimane, anche se sono passati quasi trent'anni dall'incidente. Mi aspettavo di vedere sicuramente una riduzione immediata del dolore dato era un dolore da postura scorretta. E il mio obiettivo era quello di cercare di riequilibrare il suo baricentro durante il cammino.
