The high professional Housewifes' school Klášterní Hradisko in Olomouc (1908 - 1950) and the professional education of girls in the first half of the 20th century

Abstract:

Odborné zemědělské vzdělání na přelomu 19. a 20. století až do 30. let 20. století bralo ohled zejména na národní hospodářství. Ve své bakalářské práci se věnuji problematice středního a vyššího zemědělského vzdělávání, konkrétně se zaměřuji na fungování Hospodyňské školy na Klášterním Hradisku v Olomouci. Práce je omezena lety 1908 - 1950, tedy lety, kdy tato škola působila. Od svého vzniku se tato instituce orientovala na odborné vzdělání dívek v oboru zemědělství. Tento účel se snažila všemi silami plnit. Byli tu zaměstnáni odborní učitelé. A také skladba předmětů odpovídala snaze vychovat ženy, které by uměly spravovat domácnost a starat se o rodinu, ale i vést rolnický podnik. Práce je věnována změnám v organizaci školy. Také se věnuji otázce, za jakým účelem škola vznikla. Mnoho odborníků na počátku 20. století požadovalo, aby v této oblasti mohla vzniknout instituce, která by vzdělávala právě venkovské dívky. Většina se jich také do založení školy zapojila. Dalším aspektem, kterému jsem se věnovala, byla náplň studia. Dívky se učily teoretickým znalostem, které pak využívaly během své praxe, při práci se zvířaty nebo na zahradě. Velkou část práce zabírá kapitola o studentkách, věnuji se především podmínkám, které byly potřebné pro přijetí na Hospodyňskou školu na Klášterním Hradisku. Také mě zajímalo, jak studentky trávily svůj volný čas. Pro chod školy byla také důležitá činnost spolku absolventek, i když trvala jen krátce. Právě absolventky podávaly zpětnou vazbu a snažily se, aby učební osnovy odpovídaly reálným potřebám v zemědělství.

Abstract:

Professional agricultural education from the end of the 19th century to the 1930s was especially interested in the national economy. In my bachelor’s thesis I pay attention to the secondary and high agricultural education and I focus on the Housewifes’ School at Klášterní Hradisko in Olomouc. This thesis deals with the period from 1908 to 1950, when this school was in function. Since its establishment this institution had been focused on professional training of girls in agriculture and this remained its main aim. Professional teachers worked there and also the subjects were aimed to educate young women that would be able to take care of the household and look after their children as well as to work in agriculture. This thesis is devoted to the changes in the organization of the school. I am also interested in how the school was established. Many professionals at the beginning of the 19th century asked for an institution in this field that would educate rural girls. Most of them joined establishing this school. Another aspect that I discuss is the school’s outlines. The girls learnt theory which they then applied on working with the livestock or in the garden. A great deal of this thesis is devoted to the students themselves, especially to the conditions under which they were accepted to the Housewifes’ School at Klášterní Hradisko. I was also interested in how the girls spent their free time. For the functioning of the school also an activity of former students was important, although it did not last long. It was them who provided the feedback and tried to make the outlines go with the actual needs of agriculture.
