Being on the road – pilgrimage in Norwegian cultural history and the present

Abstract:

The master thesis „Being on the road – pilgrimage in Norwegian cultural history and the present“ deals with the phenomenon of pilgrimage in the Norwegian context. The main goal of this thesis is to present the Norwegian pilgrimage routes and the development they have gone through in almost a thousand years of their existence. In addition to the pilgrimage routes, the work also deals with the figure of the pilgrim, which has undergone fundamental changes since the Middle Ages. The aim of this thesis is, among other things, to show that the famous pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela are not the only ones worth attention.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Å være på vei – pilegrimsvandring i norsk kulturhistorie og samtid“ se věnuje fenoménu poutnictví v norském kontextu. Hlavním cílem práce je představení norských poutních cest a vývoje, kterým za bezmála tisíc let své existence prošly. Kromě samotných poutních cest se práce ve větší míře zaobírá také postavou poutníka, která od středověku prošla zásadními změnami. Snahou práce je mimo jiné ukázat, že nejen světoznámé poutní cesty do Santiaga de Compostela stojí za pozornost.
