Desquamative gingivitis from the perspective of a dental hygienist

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou deskvamativní gingivitidy z pohledu dentální hygienistky. Cílem teoretické části je charakterizovat základní poznatky o příznacích a projevech klinického stavu v dutině ústní označovaného jako deskvamativní gingivitida a o možnostech jeho diagnostiky, dále také shrnout dosavadní znalosti o pravděpodobných příčinách deskvamativních změn na gingivě a jejich souvislostí s celkovým zdravotním stavem takto postižených pacientů. V neposlední řadě si práce klade za cíl popsat vhodný terapeutický postup a aspekty ošetření pacientů s deskvamativní gingivitidou v ordinaci dentální hygieny. Součástí praktické časti je dotazníkové šetření u souboru pacientů se zkoumaným klinickým stavem, kteří dochází na Oddělení parodontologie a orální medicíny STK FNUSA v Brně a detailnější popis průběhu onemocnění včetně terapie u jednoho vybraného případu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of desquamative gingivitis from the perspective of the dental hygienist. The theoretical part is focused on characterization of the basic knowledge about the symptoms and manifestations of the clinical condition in oral cavity called desquamative gingivitis and the possibilities of its diagnosis, as well as to summarize current knowledge about probable causes of the desquamative changes on the gingiva and their connection with the overall health of such affected patients. Last but not least, the thesis focuses on a description of the appropriate therapeutic process and aspects of treatment in patients with desquamative gingivitis in a dental hygiene office. The practical part consists of a questionnaire survey of a group of patients attending the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine STK FNUSA Brno, with the examined clinical condition and a detailed description of the course of disease including therapy in one selected case.
