Mineralogy of opals and chalcedons bound on Moravian serpentinites

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá mineralogickým složením chalcedonové odrůdy - plazmy z drobnějších těles serpentinitů na západní Moravě. První část ve formě rešerše obsahuje souhrn informací o plazmě, jako o produktu zvětrávání serpentinitů, a taktéž podává přehled o geologických poměrech a výskytu plazem na vybraných lokalitách. V terénní etapě je zdokumentováno celkem 11 lokalit s výskyty plazem v zájmové oblasti. Plazmy byly zkoumány pomocí optické mikroskopie, elektronové mikrosondy a RTG-práškové difrakční analýzy. Těmito metodami bylo určeno jejich přesné chemické a fázové složení. V optickém mikroskopu byly plazmy rozlišeny na zonální a nezonální typy. Chemické složení okrajové a centrální části u zonálních typů plazem je tvořeno převážně SiO2 hmotou. Červíčkovité útvary považované za fylosilikáty, vyskytující se v celé hmotě plazmy, představují pseudomorfózy SiO2 po chloritech. V okrajových částech plazem je uzavřeno více minerálních inkluzí, které byly určeny jako amfiboly, pyroxeny, chlority a spinelidy. Výsledky analýz fázového složení typické zonální plazmy ukázaly rozdílnou strukturu okrajové a centrální části. Okrajová část plazmy odpovídala strukturně opálu-CT a centrální část křemeni. Získané výsledky jsou diskutovány s možnými podmínkami vzniku plazem.

Abstract:

The present work deals with the mineralogical composition chalcedony variety - plasma from minor serpentinite bodies on western Moravia. The first part in the background research contains an information summary of plasma, as a product of weathering of serpentinites and also gives an overview of the geology and occurrence of plasma at studied locations. The second part describes the results of field research aimed at documenting a total of 11 locations found with the occurrence of plasma. In the laboratory research plasma were investigated in an optical microscope, to specify the chemical and phase composition was used electron microprobe and X-ray powder diffraction. In an optical microscope were distinguished two types of plasma - the zonal and the without zone. Chemical composition of the peripheral and central parts of the zonal type of plasma is composed mainly of SiO2 matter. Formations in the shape of a worm considered phyllosilicates in plasma matter represent quartz pseudomorphs after chlorite. Greater amount of mineral inclusions identified as amphiboles, pyroxenes, chlorites and spinels are closed in the outer parts of plasma. Results of the phase composition of typical zonal plasma showed different structure of the peripheral and the central parts. The peripheral part of the plasma corresponds structurally with opal-CT and the central part of the quartz. The obtained results are discussed in possible terms of the origin of plasma.
