On the edge of the photograph and the moving image

Abstract:

Diplomová práce analyzuje specifický vztah fotografie a pohyblivého obrazu. Na úvod autor obecně charakterizuje vztah mezi oběma médii a svůj přístup k nim z pozice umělce. První kapitola se věnuje pojmu technický obraz, jak ho definoval filozof a teoretik Vilém Flusser. Následuje popis fotografie a pohyblivého obrazu z hlediska jejich technologického a historického vývoje a formálního propojení až k aktuálnímu stavu a možným tendencím vývoje v budoucnosti. Další část se věnuje konfrontaci médií fotografie a pohyblivého obrazu a jejich společnému kontextu v současném umění. Poslední část představuje autorovu tvorbu s ohledem na téma diplomové práce a tematicky ukotvuje výslednou autorskou realizaci a představuje ji po formální stránce.

Abstract:

The thesis analyses the specific relationship between photography and the moving image. At the beginning the author characterizes the relationship between the two media in general and his approach to them from the position of an artist. The first chapter is devoted to the notion of the technical image as defined by the philosopher and theorist Wilhelm Flusser. This is followed by a description of photography and the moving image in terms of their technological and historical development and formal connection to the current state and possible future developments. The next part is devoted to the confrontation of the media of photography and the moving image and their common context in contemporary art. The last part presents the author's work with regard to the topic of the thesis and thematically anchors the resulting author's realization and presents it formally
