Behavioral and experimental methods in public economics: Common-Pool Resources

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce „Behaviorální a experimentální přístupy k modelům veřejné ekonomie: Common-Pool Resources“ je s pomocí laboratorního experimentu zkoumat chování a rozhodování jednotlivců v podmínkách common-pool resource. Součástí zkoumání je též mechanismus odměňování a trestání. V první kapitole práce je specifikován koncept common-pool resource, např. s využitím mikroekonomické teorie. Druhá kapitola se zabývá reflexí přístupu experimentální literatury ke common-pool resource, zejm. pak s důrazem na používaný design a výsledky jednotlivých experimentů. Tato kapitola pak vychází především z díla Elinor Ostromové. Ve třetí kapitole jsou formulovány výzkumné otázky a hypotézy a specifikován design vlastního experimentu. Poslední kapitola vyhodnocuje výsledky experimentu vzhledem k výzkumným otázkám a zjištění následně srovnává se závěry z literatury ze druhé kapitoly.

Abstract:

The goal of the thesis „Behavioral and experimental models in public economics: Common-Pool Resources“ is to examine the behavior and decision of individuals who use the common-pool resource through the conduction of laboratory experiment. Part of the experimental research is the reward and punishment mechanism. The first chapter specifies the common-pool resource model, e.g. using the microeconomics theory. The second chapter examines the approach of the experimental literature to the common-pool resource with the emphasis on design and findings of the experiments. In this chapter, Elinor Ostrom's work is used substantially. The third chapter states the research questions and hypothesis and specifies the design used for the own experiment. The last chapter evaluates the results from the experiment according to the research questions and compares the findings with those presented in the second chapter.
