Archetypal Models of Female Characters in the Films of Andrei Tarkovsky and Lars von Trier

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou tvorby dvou slavných světových režisérů 20. a 21. století Andreje Tarkovského a Larse von Triera. Jedná se o analýzu konkrétních ženských archetypů, které lze nejčastěji nalézt v jejich filmech, jako je čarodějnice, Madona či Venuše. Každý z režisérů věnuje zvláštní pozornost roli ženy ve společnosti a jejímu vztahu s mužem, a proto je zde snaha charakterizovat každou ženu v kontextu jejího postavení ve společnosti. Následně se bakalářská práce věnuje otázce feminismu v tvorbě a životě obou režisérů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is devoted to the analysis of the work of two famous world directors of the 20th and 21st century, Andrey Tarkovsky and Lars von Trier. This is an analysis of specific female archetypes which can be frequently found in their films. For example, witch, Madonna, or Venus. Each of the directors pays special attention to the role of woman in society and her relationship with a male person, and therefore here is an attempt to characterize each woman in the context of her position in society. Subsequently, the bachelor's work is devoted to the issue of feminism in the work and life of both directors.
