Statutory audit versus due diligence: impact on financial performance and position of the company. Evidence from Ghana

Anotace:

The overall objective of the study is to know the role and impact of statutory audit and due diligence audit on the company financial performance of a chosen company in Ghana. This study aims to investigate the impact of statutory audit and due diligence audit on the financial position and performance of the chosen company from Ghana to point out major advantages and disadvantages, similarities and differences between both types of audit and suggest recommendations for companies from Ghana. The theoretical part deals with the role of audit in determining whether company's financial statements present fairly in all material aspects. The practical part of this study covers the impact of adjustments under statutory audit and due diligence audit on company’s financial position. Comparison on outcomes of two audits applied to the same company specifically on statutory and due diligence via calculated set of financial ratios and via calculated bankruptcy model scores. The calculated ratios and Altman’s Z score aided in recommendations for companies in Ghana for the need for statutory audit and due diligence audit.
