Economic profitability of the investment into the cryptocurrency Ethereum

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou kryptoměn, hlavně pak kryptoměnou Ethereum. Cílem práce je pomocí experimentu porovnat proces těžby kryptoměny Ethereum na běžné domácí stanici v krátkém období oproti procesu nákupu dané kryptoměny na burze za účelem zjištění ekonomické výnosnosti těchto procesů v dnešní době. Experiment byl proveden na vlastní domácí stanici. Práce nejdříve popisuje teoretická východiska nutná k pochopení práce a poté přechází do praktické části, kde je popsán provedený experiment. Kapitoly jsou na sebe logicky a plynule navázány. V samotném závěru jsou předneseny výsledky experimentu a vyvozeny závěry. Cíl práce byl úspěšně dosažen a jejím největším přínosem je zjištění, do jaké míry se tyto procesy v dnešní době vyplatí.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issue of cryptocurrencies, mainly focusing on Ethereum. The aim of the thesis is with an experiment to compare the process of Ethereum mining on a home computer in a short term against the process of purchase of the cryptocurrency on an exchange in order to determine the economic profitability of these processes today. An experiment has been conducted on a home computer. The work first describes the theoretical background necessary to understand the work and then transmits to the practical part where it describes the conducted experiment. The chapters are logically and fluidly connected to each other. In the end, the results of the experiment are presented and conclusions are draw. The goals of the work have been successfully achieved and its greatest contribution is to determine to what extent these processes are worthwhile today.
