Communications with geriatric clients after the stroke

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřená na komunikaci s geriatrickými klienty po cévní mozkové příhodě, kdy může dojít k různému rozsahu poškození komunikačních schopností. Teoretická část práce se zabývá charakteristikou cévní mozkové příhody, afázií a komunikací. Předmětem šetření jsou všeobecné sestry na vybraných odděleních a jejich schopnosti a znalosti komunikovat s geriatrickými klienty po cévní mozkové příhodě s narušenou komunikační schopností. V empirické části jsou zjišťovány znalosti všeobecných sester pracujících na vybraných odděleních (neurologické, interní, geriatrické, LDN ) v oblasti komunikace s geriatrickými klienty po cévní mozkové příhodě. Dále se zjišťovalo další vzdělávání sester, využívání komunikačních pomůcek či jiných metod v oblasti komunikace s geriatrickými klienty po iktu. V některých případech porovnáváme rozdíly všeobecných sester na vybraných odděleních.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on communication with geriatric clients after brain stroke when some of their communication abilities could be variously damaged. Theoretical part is dealing with vascular brain stroke, aphasia and communication. The aim of research is to define nurses´ knowledge and the way of communication between general nurses from chosen departments and geriatric clients after vascular brain stroke with disrupted communication possibility. In empiric part of the thesis is investigated general nurses´ knowledge who are working at the chosen departments (neurological department, medical ward, geriatric department, long-stay department). Investigation is focused at the field of communication with geriatric clients after vascular brain stroke. Thereafter survey of nurses´ education, using of communication tools or other methods in the field of communication with geriatric clients after ictus was done. In some cases, we are comparing differences between general nurses´ working at the chosen departments.
