The functioning of NATO during the Cold War

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je analyzovat úlohu a hlavní problémy v činnosti Severoatlantické aliance v období studené války. Bakalářská práce je časově řazena vzestupně. V prvních kapitolách je popsáno historické pozadí vzniku NATO. Zahrnuje přehled evropských vojenských paktů od dob Napoleonských válek. Dále je zde popsán vliv světových válel (reparace, radikalizace a znovuvyzbrojení Německa). Další kapitoly se zabývají popisem vzniku (Bruselský pakt) a fungovaní NATO během studené války. Analyzují hlavní problémy fungování aliance od období vzniku až po pád Berlínské zdi. Závěrečné kapitoly se věnují popisu situace po pádu komunistických režimů v Evropě až po současnost, která je právě ovlivněna výsledkem studené války. Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse the role and main problems in the activities of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization during the Cold War. The bachelor thesis is in ascending order of time. The first chapters describe the historical background of the formation of NATO. It includes an overview of European military pacts since the Napoleonic Wars. It also describes the impact of the world wars (reparations, radicalization and German rearmament). Other chapters describe the emergence (Brussels Pact) and functioning of NATO during the Cold War. 'They analyse the main problems of the functioning of the alliance from the period of its formation to the fall of the Berlin Wall. The final chapters are devoted to describing the situation after the fall of the communist regimes in Europe up to the present day, which has just been affected by the outcome of the Cold War.
