KYPO Exercises: Cyber Warzone

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to prepare cyber security exercise where the participants have to find and exploit the vulnerabilities of a linux server. In the beginning of the exercise, participants are introduced to the basics of the penetration testing. The exercise is designed for two teams of three members. Objective of the exercise is to get full access to the enemy team server. In first half of the thesis, I introduce platform of KYPO, concept of penetration testing and similar cyber security games in the world. The second half contains preparation of the exercise and configuration of vulnerable server. At the end of the thesis, I evaluate the pilot run of the game that took place in the KYBOLab.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto bakalárskej práce je pripraviť bezpečnostnú hru zameranú na zabezpečenie a nájdenie zraniteľností linuxového servera. Na začiatku ponúka potrebný náhľad do problematiky týchto zraniteľností. Súťažiť budú dva tímy, každý zložený z troch ľudí. Cieľom hry je získať plnú kontrolu nad serverom nepriateľského tímu a zároveň zabezpečiť server svojho tímu. V teoretickej časti tejto práce predstavujem prostredie Kybenetického polygonu, rozoberám koncept penetračného testovania a podobné bezpečnostné hry vo svete. V praktickej časti rozoberám prípravu hry spolu s prípravou zraniteľného servera potrebného pre jej účely. Na konci práce vyhodnocujem pilotný beh hry, ktorý prebehol v priestoroch KYBOLabu.
