Simultaneous Confidence Bands for Functional Parameters

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se věnujeme sestrojení pásů spolehlivosti pro funkcionální parametry, což je jedno z aktuálních témat ve statistice. Pomocí našeho přístupu za použití Kac-Riceova vzorce dostaneme tak zvané rychlé a spravedlivé pásy. V celé práci využíváme metody analýzy funkcionálních dat, které jsou popsány v teoretické části. Teoretická část dále obsahuje definici eliptického a gaussovského procesu, popis konstrukce pásů spolehlivosti a nakonec i jejich tvar. Cílem praktické části práce je použití zadefinované teorie na simulovaných a reálných datech za pomocí softwaru R a jeho dostupných balíčků. Pro výpočet rychlých a spravedlivých pásů používáme balíček ffscb, který obsahuje všechny potřebné funkce. V části se simulovanými daty ukazujeme vliv kovarianční funkce gaussovského procesu a jejích hyperparametrů na šířku pásů. Pro práci s reálnými daty používáme datovou sadu zkoumající pohyb rtů při vyslovení konkrétního slova. Nakonec se zaměříme na porovnání našeho přístupu s bootstrap metodami.

Abstract:

In the thesis, we deal with the construction of simultaneous confidence bands for functional parameters, which is one of the actual topics in statistics. Using our approach with Kac-Rice formula, we get so called fast and fair simultaneous confidence bands. We use methods of functional data analysis that are described in the theoretical part throughout the whole thesis. The theoretical part also contains the definition of elliptical and Gaussian processes, the description of the construction of the confidence bands and finally the shape of the bands. The aim of the practical part is the usage of the defined theory in practice, therefore it is applied to simulated and real data using R software and its available packages. We use the package ffscb which contains all necessary functions to calculate fast and fair simultaneous confidence bands. We show the influence of the covariance function of the Gaussian process and its hyperparameters on the width of the bands in the section with simulated data. We describe lip movement and the possibility of their deformation in the part where we deal with the real data. Finally, we compare our approach with bootstrap methods.
