The Lobbying of the Central European Countries in the USA before NATO Enlargement and American Visa Issue

Abstract:

Předmětem zkoumání jsou způsoby lobbování středoevropských států v USA před jejich vstupem do NATO, zejména spolupráce s krajanskými organizacemi. V druhé části práce je zkoumána snaha těchto států o zrušení americké vízové povinnosti pro cesty svých občanů do USA. Práce se snaží potvrdit hypotézu, že: Dobře organizované krajanské skupiny měly velký vliv na rozhodování amerického Senátu v otázce vstupu České republiky, Polska a Maďarska do NATO a mohou stejně účinně působit při snahách o zrušení vízové povinnosti pro tyto země ze strany USA.

Abstract:

This dissertation is focused on the lobbying of the Central European countries in the USA before their NATO entry, particulary on the cooperation with the national community organizations. The second part of this work is focused on the effort of these states of abolition the visa requirements for citizens of these countries travelling to the United States. The dissertation is trying to prove the thesis that: Well organized community organizations had big influence in decision-making process in the U.S. Senate in the NATO Enlargement question and can have the same effect in the American Visa Issue.
