Consumption and Sustainability in the Fashion Industry: The Generational Difference in Ethical Fashion Buying Behaviour

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zjišťuje, jaký je rozdíl jednotlivých generací v kupním rozhodovacím procesu udržitelné módy. Tato práce má za svůj cíl zjistit, jak se liší kupní rozhodovací procesy jednotlivých generací zákazníků obchodů s udržitelnou módu v České republice. K dosažení cíle byla v teoretické části provedena rešerše literatury ohledně módního průmyslu, spotřebního chování, kupních rozhodovacích procesů, udržitelné módy a rozdílů v kupních rozhodovacích procesech jednotlivých generací. V praktické části pak byla provedena segmentace na základě sekundárních dat MML-TGI a zasazena do zázemí módního průmyslu či zájmu o ochranu životního prostředí. Následně byla v této části provedena analýza hloubkových rozhovorů a na základě ní identifikovány hlubší motivace jednotlivých generací zákazníků obchodů s udržitelnou módou.

Abstract:

This thesis investigates the generational difference in the purchasing decision process of sustainable fashion. This thesis aims to find out how the buying decision processes of each generation of customers of sustainable fashion stores in the Czech Republic differ. To achieve the objective, the theoretical part of the study conducted literature research on the fashion industry, consumer behaviour, purchase decision processes, sustainable fashion, and differences in the purchase decision processes of each generation. In the practical part, a segmentation based on MML-TGI secondary data was then carried out and set in the background of the fashion industry or environmental concerns. Subsequently, in this part, the in-depth interviews were analyzed to identify the deeper motivations of each generation of sustainable fashion store shoppers.
