Style Elements in the Prose of Herta Müller "Niederungen". A comparison of the German original version with the translation into Czech.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of the stylistic devices used in the prosaic piece „Niederungen” by the german-romanian writer Herta Müller, and then deals with the comparison of the Czech translation „Nížiny“. The theoretical part talks shortly about creative translation and issues connected therein. After looking into the life of the author which is closely linked to her portfolio, follows a practical part - analysis of nineteen tales of the book. The aim of this thesis is the comparison of stylistic devices used in the original, compared to the Czech translation by Radka Denemarkova.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rozborem stylistických prostředků v prozaickém díle "Niederungen" rumunsko-německé spisovatelky Herty Müller a jejich následným srovnáním s českým překladem "Nížiny". Teoretická část se krátce věnuje kreativnímu překládání a problémy s ním spojenými. Po nastínění života autorky, který úzce souvisí s její tvorbou, následuje praktická část – rozbor devatenácti povídek knihy. Cílem této práce je porovnání stylistických figur užitých v originálu s českým překladem Radky Denemarkové.
