French Foreign Policy Towards Gaddafi's Libya

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na francouzskou zahraniční politiku vůči Libyi za éry Muammara Kaddáfího. Analyzuje kontinuitu zahraniční politiky francouzských prezidentů a jejich administrativ, nalézá jejich společné cíle a zkoumá vývoj a změnu vztahů obou zemí. Odpovídá na otázku, zda byla francouzská reakce na arabské jaro v Libyi přímo úměrná dosavadní politice, nebo to bylo vychýlení z kurzu. Objektem analýzy jsou postoje francouzských administrativ k událostem týkající se Libye a oficiální koncepce jejich zahraničních politik.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on French foreign policy towards Libya during the era of Muammar Gaddafi. It analyses continuity of foreign policy of French presidents and their administrations, discovers their common objectives and examines development and changes of relations between two countries. Analysis answers the question whether French reaction to the Arab Spring in Libya was in direct proportion to the previous policy, or was deflection from the line. The objects of analysis are the attitudes of French administrations to events concerning Libya and official concepts of their foreign policies.
