Body surface and its relationship to subcutaneous fat tissue assessed on whole body 3D models

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is aimed at evaluating the relationship between the surface of the human body and the volume of subcutaneous fat in the human body. Furthermore, two methods for determining the size of the human body surface were compared - the traditional method using an equation and the use of the Blender computer program. In addition, it is also aimed at modeling the dependence of the body surface on the circumference measurements obtained on photogrammetric 3D models. The main goal of the work is to test the correlation between the body surface and the volume of subcutaneous fat obtained on 3D models and, in case of correlation, to describe the relationship between the surface of the human body, the subcutaneous fat and the circumference measurements measured on the 3D models. 3D models from photogrammetry and magnetic resonance, obtained from the A.D.A.P.T. program, were used to measure all the necessary data. Circumference measurements were measured directly in the A.D.A.P.T. program environment, which is well adapted for this. Body surface area and fat volume were calculated in Blender. According to the results of this work, using correlation analysis, there is a statistically significant relationship between the body surface and the volume of subcutaneous fat. Second, the means of the calculation of body surface area using the traditional equation and the Blender program were compared using the t-test. Here, it turned out that there is no statistically significant difference between these methods of calculation. Finally, the relationship between body surface area, subcutaneous fat and circumference measurements was plotted using linear regression. Here, the results showed a statistically significant relationship between surface area and four of the six circumference measurements. Statistically significant relationship was also found between fat volume and five of the six circumference measurements.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na zhodnocení vztahu mezi povrchem lidského těla a objemem podkožního tuku v lidském těle. Dále také porovnává dvě metody pro výpočet velikosti povrchu lidského těla – tradiční metoda pomocí rovnice a využití počítačového programu Blender. Kromě toho se také věnuje modelování závislosti tělesného povrchu na obvodových mírách získaných na fotogrametrických 3D modelech. Hlavním cílem práce je otestovat korelaci mezi povrchem těla a objemem podkožního tuku získaných na 3D modelech a v případě korelace popsat vztah mezi povrchem lidského těla, podkožním tukem a obvodovými mírami měřenými na 3D modelech. K měření všech potřebných údajů byly využity 3D modely z fotogrametrie a magnetické rezonance získané z programu A.D.A.P.T.. Obvodové míry byly měřeny přímo v prostředí programu A.D.A.P.T., který je k tomu dobře přizpůsoben. Povrch těla a objem tuku byly vypočítávány v programu Blender. Podle výsledků práce, pomocí využití korelační analýzy, mezi povrchem těla a objemem podkožního tuku existuje statisticky významný vztah. Pomocí t-testu byl přezkoumán rozdíl středních hodnot mezi výpočtem povrchu těla s použitím tradiční rovnice a programu Blender. Zde se ukázalo, že mezi výpočty neexistuje statisticky významný rozdíl. Nakonec byl pomocí lineární regrese vykreslen vztah mezi tělesným povrchem, podkožním tukem a obvodovými mírami. Zde výsledky ukázaly statisticky významný vztah mezi povrchem a čtyřmi ze šesti obvodových měr. Statisticky významný vztah byl také nalezen mezi objemem tuku a pěti ze šesti obvodových měr.
