Physical disabilities and their influence on the disabled person and his family

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje vlivu zdravotního postižení na jedince a jeho rodinu. Nejprve se věnuje objasnění základních pojmů, jako zdravotní postižení, handicap, vada a jiné. Dále se zabývá rozdíly mezi vrozeným a získaným postižením a jeho přijímáním rodinou, blízkým okolím a jedincem samotným. Velkou pozornost věnuje sociálnímu významu pro jednotlivé typy zdravotního postižení, integrací jedinců a jejich rodiny do společnosti. Zabývá se odlišnostmi speciálních potřeb daného typu postižení. Především věnuje pozornost rodinám a jejím postiženým členům v jejich odlišnostech od "normálních" rodin. V neposlední řadě upozorňuje na postoje společnosti k postiženým jedincům a její vzájemné vazbě. V praktické části, vycházející z dotazníku, je zkoumáno jaký vliv má postižení dítěte na rodinu, jaká pomoc je poskytnuta společností a blízkými členy rodiny, jak se k rodině chová sociální okolí, změnami priorit, získávanými dovednostmi nutnými pro péči o postižené dítě, otázkou ochoty podělit se o zkušenosti v péči o osobu blízkou a postiženou, vnímáním situace svojí rodiny dotazovanými rodiči, ovlivněním života nejen rodičů, ale i zdravých sourozenců, možnostem využití poznatků moderní medicíny (např. v oblasti diagnostiky vrozených dědičných vad).

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the influence of the physical disability on the person and his family. At first it will focus on clarifying of some basic terms, such as physical disability, handicap, defect, etc. Further it will focus on the difference between inborn and gained disability and its acceptance by the family, enviroment and by the person himself. Major attention will be devoted to social significance for particular types of physical disabilities, integration of disabled persons and their families into society. It will also focus on dissimilarities of specific needs of a given kind of physical dissability. Above all this thesis concerns with families and their dissabled members and their distinction from "normal families". Last but not least it draws attention to the attitude of the society towards the dissabled and their correlation. In the practical part of this bachelor's thesis, which results from questionnaire, the influence of a dissabled children over his family is investigated. It also inquires into what kind of help is offered by the society and by the closest members of the family, what is the attitude of its social enviroment towards the family, the change of priorities, gained skills that are necessary for taking care of a dissabled children, the problem of willingness to share the experience in taking care of dissabled person, the perception of the situation of their own family by inquired parents, affection of the life, not only the life of parents, but also the life of healthy siblings, possibilities of usage of findings of the latest medical science, for example on the field of diagnostics inborn and inheritable defects.
