History and Continuity of Pilgrimage Places in the Cultural Landscape of Czech-Bavarian Borderland : Světce at Tachov

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na zmapování historického vývoje a proměny kdysi významného poutního místa Světce nedaleko Tachova. Práce je založena nejen na výzkumu archivních pramenů, ale také na nově získaných vzpomínkách pamětníků. Největší pozornost je směřována na období po josefínských reformách, kdy poutní místo měnilo svůj vzhled a funkci do podoby šlechtické rezidence rodu Windischgrätzů. V té době byl přestavěn bývalý klášter s kostelem a získal nové využití. Přestavba kostela na zámek však nebyla nikdy dokončena a v současnosti se z něj dochovaly pouze ruiny. Značná pozornost je věnována rovněž období 20. století, které doposud nebylo v regionální historiografii zpracováno. Práce se zaměřuje především na procesy spojené s odsunem původního obyvatelstva německé národnosti a následným dosídlením a stranou neponechává ani změny funkce osady z náboženské na aristokratickou a nakonec na vzdělávací.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the mapping the historical development and transformation of the once important pilgrimage site Světce near the city Tachov. The thesis is based not only on the research of archival sources, but also on the newly acquired memories of witnesses. The main attention is paid to the period after the Josephines reforms, when the pilgrimage site changed its appearance and function into a noble residence of the Windischgrätz family. At that time, the former monastery and the church were rebuilt and reused. However, the reconstruction of the church into a chateau has never been completed and only ruins have been preserved. The attention is also paid to the period of the 20th century, which has not yet been described in regional historiography. The thesis focuses mainly on the processes associated with the displacement of the indigenous population of German nationality and the subsequent resettlement and it describes also the changes in the function of the settlement from religious place to aristocratic and finally educational.
