Geography of ice hockey in Czechia

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je zhodnocení dynamiky vývoje ledního hokeje na území ČR, a to za celou dobu jeho historie. V rámci tohoto výzkumu je průzkum věnován celkové historii výstavby a dalších indikátorů týkající se zimních stadionů. Následně se analýza podrobuje hráčům, kteří reprezentovali Českou republiku od vzniku samostatné ČR a v poslední řadě nastínění celkové historie hokejových klubů na území dnešní ČR. V teoretické rovině bude poukázáno na historii ledního hokeje, sahající až do 5 století našeho letopočtu. Opomenout nemůžeme teoretické zaměření ledního hokeje v Kanadě, jako kolébku tohoto sportu. Práce se člení dle okresů a pro stručný přehled je pracováno s kartografickými metodami. Dílčím cílem je analýza "výchovy" nejlepších českých hokejistů od roku 1993. Lední hokej se rozšiřoval především z hlavního města Prahy, následnými průkopníky byly především průmyslové regiony jako Kladensko, Mostecko či Ostravsko. Postupem let se hokejová dominance přesunula do krajských měst a jejich okolí, především pak na Plzeňsko, Brněnsko, Vysočinu a Pardubicko.

Abstract:

The main goal of this diploma thesis will be to evaluate the dynamics of the development of ice hockey in the Czech Republic, throughout its history. As a part of this research, the survey is devoted to the overal history of construction and other indicators related to the ice hockey stadiums. Then is the analysis submitted to players who have represented the Czech Republic since the establishment of the independent Czech Republic, and lastly an outline of the overal history of hockey clubs in the territory of today's Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, the history of ice hockey, dating back to the fifth century anno domini (A.D.), will be pointed out. We cannot forget the theoretical focus of ice hockey in Canada, as the cradle of this sport. The thesis is divided according to districts and for a brief overview is worked with the cartographic methods. A partial goal is the analysis of the "education" of the best Czech hockey players since 1993. Ice hockey expanded mainly from the capital city of Prague, the subsequent pioneers were mainly industrial regions such as Kladno, Most and Ostrava. Over the years, hockey dominance has moved to the regional cities and their surroundings, especially to the Pilsen, Brno, Vysočina and Pardubice regions.
