Dizertačná práca sa venuje prehľadu témy fotografie krajiny v prostredí bývalého Horného Uhorska v rámci „dlhého 19. storočia“. Ako hlavné metodologické prístupy boli zvolené triedenie podľa funkcií, teda účelu vzniku fotografií a dôraz na kultúrno-historický kontext.
