Islamophobia and Czech Stereotyping of Islam - image of Islam in non-expert literature

Abstract:

Práce na téma ?Islamofobie a stereotypy české reflexe islámu - obraz islámu v neodborné literatuře? pojednává o pohledu na islám z hlediska beletristických knih. Práce se mimo toto své hlavní téma věnuje i několika tématům vedlejším, které celkový koncept práce doplňují. Především pojmům stereotyp a předsudek v kontextu interkulturní psychologie, dále kulturou obecně a různým typům možného soužití dvou či více kultur. Následně práce přechází do konkrétní problematiky soužití Evropanů s muslimy. Závěr práce je věnován analýze vybraných románů a poukazuje na jejich podíl na utváření stereotypů a předsudků o islámu.

Abstract:

Thesis on the subject ?Islamophobia and stereotypes of Czech reflection of Islam ? image of Islam in laymen literature? takes a look on Islam from the point of view of belletristic books. This work, besides the main topic, deals with several secondary topics, which eke out the whole concept. Firstly the notions of stereotype and prejudice in the context intercultural psychology, secondly culture generally and lastly particular problems of co-existence of Europeans and Islamists. Conclusion of this thesis is dedicated to the analysis of selected novels and points out their part in development of stereotypes and prejudice about Islam.
