Private Military Companies in Sierra Leone: Asset or Threat?

Abstract:

PMC´s jsou poměrně novým a specifickým aktérem a v českém prostředí jsou navíc nedostatečně prozkoumány. Proto je hlavním cílem mé práce je předložení komplexní případové studie zabývající se vlivem PMC´s v Sierra Leone během války v devadesátých letech. V práci se primárně zaměřuji na vysvětlení otázky, zda mají PMC´s negativní vliv na stabilitu ve státě, ve kterém působí. Pod pojmem "stabilita" si představuji interní stabilitu, konkrétně vnitřní státní suverenitu. Moje práce představuje čtenářům vliv největších PMC´s v Sierra Leone. Těmi jsou Executive Outcomes, Sandline International a Ghurkas Security Guard. Na druhou stranu, má práce není hluboce zaměřena na vliv a důležitost interních aktérů.

Abstract:

PMC´s are quite new and specific actor and in czech environment they are unsatisfacory explored too. So main goal of my work is to submit complex case study about influence of PMC´s in Sierra Leone war in 1990´s. The main focus of my work is to explain, whether PMC´s has negative influence to stability in Country, in which they work. Under the term "stability" I imagine internal stability, especially internal state sovereignty. My work introduces influence of biggest PMC´s in Sierra Leone. These are Executive Outcomes, Sandline International and Ghurkas Security Guard. On the other hand, my work is not deeply focused to the importance and influence of internal actors.
