Comparison of infant mortality in the EU

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o vývoji kvocientu kojenecké, novorozenecké a časné novorozenecké úmrtnosti v jednotlivých členských státech Evropské unie v období 1960 -- 2012. V teoretické části jsou nejprve vymezeny základní ukazatele kojenecké úmrtnosti a změny definice týkající se živě a mrtvě narozeného dítěte, které měly vliv na vývoj úmrtnosti do 1 roku zejména v České republice. V analytické části této práce bude detailněji zkoumán kvocient kojenecké úmrtnosti a to s ohledem na jednotlivá pohlaví. Primárním zdrojem dat bude databáze Eurostatu. Kvocient kojenecké úmrtnosti v jednotlivých evropských zemích bude porovnáván se standardem EU. Podrobněji bude analyzována Česká republika, kde bude věnována pozornost mimo jiné i úmrtnosti novorozenců podle porodní hmotnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the development of infant, neonatal and early neonatal mortality in member states of the European Union in 1960-2012. In theoretical part the indicators of prenatal mortality are introduced and the changes of definition of live and dead newborn are examined. These changes of definition had especially influence on the development of the mortality in the Czech Republic. In second part of this thesis we examine quotient of infant mortality with regard to the single sexes. Primary source of information will be the database of Eurostat. The quotient of infant mortality in single member states will be compared with the standard of the EU. The Czech Republic will be analyzed in more detail and we will consider also the mortality of newborn according to childbirth weight.
