Abstract:
This Master´s thesis explores the concept of prison in the literary works of Margaret Atwood with a particular focus on female characters. Atwood’s protagonists are trapped in both physical and metaphorical prisons from which they are trying to escape. It further analyzes the loss of freedom and the difficulty regaining self-confidence.
