The thesis focuses on the issue of identity negotiation in the multicultural city. It compares and contrasts two main characters of novels Something to Tell You by Hanif Kureishi and Brick Lane by Monica Ali. The opening chapters deal with the history of immigration to Great Britain and present the situation of immigrants from Pakistan and Bangladesh in Great Britain.
