Diplomová práca sa zaoberá konceptom Smart City, jeho definíciou, kľúčovými oblasťami a jeho uplatnením v Českej republike. Práca ďalej naväzuje na zahájenú spoluprácu Laboratória servisných systémov s mestom Dačice, s cieľom vykonania analýzy aktuálneho stavu procesov vo vybranej funkčnej oblasti mesta a predloženia návrhu vhodnej formy centralizácie zvolených strategických ukazovateľov.
