Regional disparities in the accessibility of medical care in the Czech Republic in 2017

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá regionálními disparitami v dostupnosti zdravotní péče. Popisuje specifika systému zdravotní péče a porovnává počty lékařů oborů primární péče v okresech ČR. Pomocí internetových hodnocení také porovnává rozdíly ve vnímané kvalitě zdravotní péče napříč kraji. Je ověřováno, zdali je garantována pojišťěncům místní dostupnost zdravotní péče tak, jak je definována v českých právních normách. Práce navrhuje tvůrcům zdravotní politiky možná řešení nedostupnosti péče na venkově a v ohrožených oblastech. Pomocí rozsáhlého datasetu lékařů a internetových hodnocení byla potvrzena existence regionálních disparit v počtu lékařů primární péče, ve vnímané kvalitě primární péče i v dostupnosti centrové péče. Práci se nepodařilo vysvětlit příčiny rozdílné vnímané kvality péče napříč kraji.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with regional disparities in health care availability. It describes the specifics of the health care system and compares the numbers of primary care physicians in the districts of the Czech Republic. It also compares the differences in perceived quality of health care across the regions using the internet reviews. It is being verified, whether is the health care accessibility in line with Czech required legal standards. The paper suggests to health policy makers possible solutions dealing with the issue of unavailability of medical care in rural and vulnerable areas. Using large dataset of primary care physicians, the paper confirms the existence of regional disparities in all regards - number of physicians, the perceived quality of care and center care availability. The work failed to explain the causes of the different perceived quality of care across the regions (based on online reviews).
