Shoreline Abrasion Mapping at the Brno Reservoir in the Osada Area Using Mobile Laser Scanning and Unmanned Aerial Systems

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá monitoringem a analýzou abrazních procesů na vodním díle Brno, se zaměřením na nejvíce namáhanou lokalitu Osada. S využitím moderních metod sběru dat (konkrétně bezpilotních prostředků (UAV), GNSS aparatury Trimble a laserového skenování technologií GeoSLAM) byl proveden detailní monitoring území. První část práce je věnována porovnání schopností jednotlivých přístrojů detailně zachytit morfologicky odlišné části břehu, zejména strmé abrazní sruby a pozvolné přilehlé abrazní plošiny. Na základě této analýzy byla vyhodnocena vhodnost jednotlivých metod pro sledování dynamiky transportu sedimentů. V návaznosti na zjištěné skutečnosti a specifické podmínky lokality (ochrana hnízdních biotopů, kolísání hladiny) byl vypracován návrh biotechnických opatření kombinující vrbové vlnolamy s prvky inženýrské biologie. Navržené řešení cílí na efektivní stabilizaci břehové linie při zachování přirozeného rázu krajiny.

Abstract:

The presented Master´s thesis deals with the monitoring and analysis of abrasion processes at the Brno Reservoir, focusing on the most stressed locality Osada. Using modern data collection methods (specifically Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Trimble GNSS equipment and laser scanning using GeoSLAM technology), detailed monitoring of the area was carried out. The first part of the work is devoted to comparing the capabilities of individual devices to capture morphologically different parts of the bank in detail, especially steep abrasion cliffs and gradual adjacent abrasion platforms. Based on this analysis, the suitability of individual methods for monitoring the dynamics of sediment transport was evaluated. Based on these findings and specific conditions of the site (protection of nesting biotopes, water level fluctuations), a proposal for biotechnical measures combining willow breakwaters with elements of biotechnical engineering was developed. The proposed solution aims at effective stabilization of the shoreline while preserving the natural character of the landscape.
