Initiating collaboration between farmers and other actors striving for a more sustainable countryside management – a case study from the Podbrněnsko region

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem tzv. kolaborativní spolupráce neboli partnerstvím mezi zemědělci a dalšími aktéry (především obce, ochránci přírody, NNO a veřejnoprávní instituce), která vznikají s cílem podporovat udržitelnější hospodaření v krajině a šetrnou správu přírodních zdrojů. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na přínosy, které spolupráce může jednotlivým aktérům přinést, a negativa, kterým mohou zemědělci a další aktéři během spolupráce čelit. Zároveň zjišťuje, co motivuje jednotlivé subjekty k účasti na partnerství, a zkoumá překážky, které aktéři vnímají v souvislosti se svým zapojením. Práce prezentuje konkrétní příklady kolaborativní spolupráce jak v zahraničí, tak v České republice. Cílem výzkumné části je nahlédnout na spolupráci za účelem šetrnějšího hospodaření v krajině očima zemědělců, ochránců přírody a zástupců obcí, a to skrze skupinové rozhovory v Jihomoravském kraji. Práce pomocí tematické kvalitativní analýzy zjišťuje, jaké motivace a bariéry pro spolupráci tito konkrétní aktéři vnímají. Výsledky výzkumu jsou prezentovány formou analytických kategorií a jsou porovnávány s odpovídajícími výzkumy provedenými v zahraničí. Získané poznatky ukazují, že zemědělci se nebrání spolupráci s dalšími aktéry, avšak není aktivně iniciována z jejich strany. Neměla by být spojena se zásahy na jejich pozemcích a mít negativní vliv na výnos produkce. Většina účastníků by byla ochotná se podílet na zlepšení stavu krajiny menšími zásahy (výsadba remízků) a zapojit se do řízeného odbytu lokální produkce v rámci regionu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of collaborative partnership, partnerships between farmers and other actors (mainly municipalities, conservationists, NGOs and public institutions) that are formed to support more sustainable agriculture and sustainable management of natural resources. The theoretical part is focused on the benefits that cooperation can bring to the different actors and disadvantages that farmers and other actors may face during cooperation. It also identifies what motivates different actors to participate in the partnership and explores the barriers that actors perceive to their involvement. The thesis presents examples of collaborative partnerships abroad and in the Czech Republic. The aim of the research part is to look at partnership formed for the purpose of sustainable landscape management through the eyes of farmers, environmentalists and mayors through group interviews from the South Moravian Region. Using thematic qualitative analysis, the thesis finds out what motivations and barriers to partnership are perceived by these actors. The results of the research are presented in the form of analytical categories and are compared with corresponding research from abroad. The findings show that farmers perceive partnership with other actors positively but it is not actively initiate it. However, this should not be related to interventions on their own land and have a negative impact on production. The majority of participants would be willing to participate in landscape improvement through small scale interventions (planting hedges) and to participate in the managed marketing of local produce in the region.
