The Chronicler Bohumil Paukner and His Work. A Contribution to the Study of Folk Chronicleship

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce dokumentuje život a dílo kronikáře Bohumila Pauknera (1881 – 1961). V teoretické části je zhodnocena odborná literatura týkající se lidového kronikářství, z níž práce vychází. Dále jsou v této části vysvětleny základní pojmy a vývoj lidového kronikářství i odborného zájmu o něj. Největší pozornost je v práci věnována konkrétnímu představiteli lidového kronikářství a analýze jeho díla. Velmi podrobně je popsán životní příběh kronikáře B. Pauknera, díky kterému lze lépe pochopit způsob i obsah jeho zápisů. Rozbor hlavního díla – pětidílné kroniky – je prováděn jak po stránce obsahové, tak i formální. Obsahová analýza rozlišuje dvě období – období retrospektivních a období autentických záznamů. Retrospektivní zápisy charakterizují rozsahovou pestrost a hloubku díla. Hodnota autentických záznamů spočívá v zachycení situace v Československu po převzetí moci KSČ v únoru 1948, a to jednak z pohledu praktických dopadů na život jihočeské obce Hrejkovice a jednak jako hodnocení celospolečenského dění konkrétní osobou.

Abstract:

This diploma work evidences life and work of chronicler Bohumil Paukner (1881 – 1961). The theoretical part of the work evaluates professional literature of folk chronicleship, which is issue of the diploma work.Further on there are explained basic concepts and evolution of the folk chronicleship and of the professional interest in it in this part. The greatest attention is paid to the concrete representative of the folk chronicleship and to the analysis of his work. In a very detailed way there is described the story of life of the chronicler B. Paukner, thanks to which it is possible to understand better the method and the subject of his records. The analysis of the main work – 5th part cronicle – is carried out in respect both contents and formal.The analysis of the contents distinguishes 2 periods: the period of retrospective records and of the authentic ones. The retrospective records show the ample variety and profundity od the work. The value od the authentic records consists in rendering the situation after the comunists took over the power in February 1948. In part from the point of view of the impact on the life of the southbohemian village Hrejkovice, in part as an appretiation of the social movement by the concrete individual.
