Foster Care for a Temporary Period

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na pěstounskou péči na přechodnou dobu. Cílem této práce je odpovědět na hlavní výzkumnou otázku: „V čem je PPPD přínosná a v čem jsou naopak její nevýhody z pohledu pracovníků OSPOD a samotných pěstounů na přechodnou dobu?“ Teoretická část práce se zabývá rodinou z pohledu její funkčnosti a možných poruch rodiny, citovou vazbou, potřebami dítěte, termínem ohrožené dítě, jeho hodnocením a následným opatřením. Dále se věnuje orgánu sociálně-právní ochrany dětí a samotnou činností sociálních pracovníků tohoto orgánu. Po té následuje hlavní část práce, ve které je popsána jak pěstounská péče na přechodnou dobu, tak i raná pěstounská péče. V neposlední řadě je pozornost věnována vývojovým potřebám dětí, především těm v raném věku. Práce se dále zabývá pojmem pěstoun, dětmi, které přichází do pěstounské péče, možnou motivací žadatelů o pěstounskou péči na přechodnou dobu, procesem zprostředkování a samotnou odbornou přípravou. Nakonec jsou zmíněna možná úskalí a pozitiva pěstounské péče na přechodnou dobu. Empirická část je tvořena kvalitativní strategií za pomoci využití metody polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Ten je uskutečněn s pracovníky OSPOD a samotnými pěstouny na přechodnou dobu ze Zlínského kraje. Výsledky výzkumu by mohly sloužit ke zlepšení spolupráce mezi pěstouny a pracovníky OSPOD a ke zlepšení uskutečňování pěstounské péče na přechodnou dobu.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on foster care for a temporary period. The aim of this work is to give an answer to main research question: “How is foster care for a temporary period worthwhile and wherein lies its disadvantages from the perspective of social workers from the office of the Institution for Socially-legal Children's Protection and Foster Parents for a temporary period?” The theoretical part deals with the family in terms of its functionality and possible defects, emotional attachment, child's needs, the term endangered child, its evaluation and follow-up. Also, it discusses the office of the Institution for Socially-legal Children's Protection and the responsibilities of its social workers. Moreover, there will be a major part of the work, which is described as foster care, temporary and early foster care. Furthermore, it pays attention to the evolutionary needs mainly in early phases of their life. The study also discusses the concept of foster parents, children who come into foster care, the possible motivation of applicants for foster care for a temporary period, the mediation process and the training itself. That being said, mention of the possible disadvantages and advantages of foster care for a temporary period. Finally, it discusses potential difficulties and the merits of foster care for a temporary period. Empirical part of the thesis is made up of qualitative strategy using “semi-structured interview” method. It is created in collaboration with the social workers of the Institution of Children's Protection and Foster Parents for a temporary period – all from Zlín district. The results of the research could serve to improve cooperation between foster parents and social workers and to enhance the implementation of foster care for a temporary period.
