The impacts of the earthquake in 2011 on Japan with an emphasis on nuclear energy

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem předkládané bakalářské práce je nastínit a analyzovat dopady zemětřesení v roce 2011 na Japonsko, s důrazem na dopady na jadernou energetiku. První část bakalářská práce je zaměřena na přírodní katastrofu, která postihla Japonsko 11. března 2011. Práce popisuje ničivé zemětřesení a tsunami a jejich okamžité i dlouhodobé ekonomické dopady na Japonsko v oblasti pojistných trhů, průmyslu, zemědělství a cestovního ruchu. Dále podává čtenáři přehled o hlavních vládních opatřeních a snahách o co nejrychlejší obnovu postižené země prostřednictvím schvalování dodatečných rozpočtů a vytvářením speciální komise a agentury zabývajících se rekonstrukčními pracemi. Druhá část práce se dotýká jaderné havárie ve Fukušimě Daiiči a jejích dopadů na jadernou energetiku jak z pohledu Japonska, tak z pohledu celosvětového. Zkoumá, jaký postoj k této havárii zaujaly jednotlivé státy světa, které z nich se rozhodly pro úplný odklon od výroby elektrické energie z jádra a které se naopak snaží své jaderné programy neustále zdokonalovat a rozšiřovat.

Abstract:

The main objective of this thesis is to outline and analyze the impacts of the earthquake on Japan in 2011, with emphasis on the impacts on nuclear energy. The first part of the thesis is focused on the natural disaster that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. The work describes the devastating earthquake and tsunami and their immediate and long-term economic impact on Japan in the field of insurance markets, industry, agriculture and tourism. Furthermore gives an overview of the major government measures and efforts for the fastest possible recovery of the affected country through the approval of supplementary budgets and the creation of special commission and agency engaged in reconstruction work. The second part of the thesis concerns the nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi and its impact on nuclear energy in Japan and in the world. It examines the attitude of individual states to the disaster. Some of these countries have decided for the complete shift from production of nuclear power and others, by contrast, tries to improve and expand its nuclear programs continuously.
