Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na srovnání čtyř románů britské spisovatelky Margaret Drabble v průběhu čtyř desetiletí. Zobrazuje pohled autorky na současnou Britskou společnost a poukazuje na její věrné spojení s realismem, který je především zobrazen očima mnoha hrdinů žijících v různých dobách a na různých místech. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je nastínění knih zejména ze dvou pohledů. První klade důraz na prostředí románu, které znázorňuje sociální a politické změny v Anglii ve druhé polovině 20. století. Druhý pohled se soustřeďuje na rozvoj jedinců, stejně jako na rozvoj autorky, jejích děl a vylíčení aktuálních událostí.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis focuses on the comparison of four novels published in decade succession by a British woman novelist, Margaret Drabble. It reflects the author’s opinion on contemporary British society and displays the allegiance to realism which is mainly depicted through the eyes of various protagonists set in different times and places. The principal aim of the thesis is to interpret the books from two perspectives in particular. First, it pays attention to the novels´ background which illustrates the social and political changes in England throughout the second half of the 20th century. Second, the thesis puts emphasis upon individuals who develop with the author, her writing and description of actual state of affairs.
