This Master’s thesis deals with the theme of addiction in short stories written by American author John Cheever, mostly in the context of post-war American suburbs. The primary emphasis is on the analysis of selected short stories with a focus on addiction aspects, namely alcohol addiction, addiction to technology, and sex addiction.
