The level of financial literacy of UJEP students

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci je zjišťována úroveň finanční gramotnosti studentů na vybrané ekonomické fakultě. Cílem práce je vyhodnotit, zda existují významné rozdíly ve finanční gramotnosti napříč obory Ekonomika a management, Regionální rozvoj a veřejná správa a Sociální politika a sociální práce na Fakultě sociálně ekonomické Univerzity J. E. Purkyně. Vybráni jsou studenti prvních ročníků bakalářského stupně a závěrečné ročníky všech zmíněných studijních oborů. Výzkumná část je založena na sběru a analýze dat týkajících se finanční gramotnosti daných studijních oborů. Sběr dat proběhl za využití dotazníkového šetření, jehož prostřednictvím lze zjistit, jakou finanční gramotnost prokazují respondenti v rámci řešení reálných situací. Na základě stanovených hypotéz se potvrdil předpoklad, že obor EMA je v odpovědích úspěšnější než obor SPP, a že magisterský program je díky nasbíraným zkušenostem a pětiletým znalostem získaných na FSE UJEP v oblasti financí úspěšnější než program bakalářský. Výsledky přinesly podstatná zjištění týkající se úrovně finanční gramotnosti studentů FSE UJEP. Bylo by tak vhodné zjistit příčinu významných rozdílů a učinit kroky k jejich minimalizaci.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis examines the students' financial literacy at a selected faculty of economics. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate whether there are significant differences in financial literacy across the fields of Economics and Management, Regional Development and Public Administration and Social Policy and Social Work at FSE UJEP. Students of the first years of the bachelor's degree and of the final years of all the mentioned fields of study are selected. The research part is based on the collection and analysis of data related to the financial literacy of the fields of study. Data collection was carried out by using a questionnaire survey, which can be used to determine the financial literacy of respondents in solving real situations. Based on the established hypotheses, the assumption was confirmed that the EMA field is more successful in answers than the SPP field, and that the master's program is more successful than the bachelor's program thanks to the accumulated experience and five years of knowledge gained at FSE UJEP. The results brought significant findings regarding the level of financial literacy of FSE UJEP students. It would be appropriate to identify the cause of significant differences and to take steps to minimize these differences.
