The planning of French courses: experimental research

Abstract:

This thesis centers on the long-term planning of French lessons. First, the thesis aims to explain the basic terminology such as „lesson planning“, „motivation“, „students’ needs“ or the „specifics of planning a French language lesson“. The second part of this thesis presents one of the methods of data aquisitions: an interview. This method will help us acquire effectively the information concerning long-term planning directly from professors of the French language. We will focus on describing the interview in general, as a method, and also in concrete terms and procedures that lead to the accomplishment of the set goal: we will focus on the procedures that are necessary for a preparation of an interview and on the choice of questions contained in the interview. Simultaneously, we will present the teachers who participated on this research. In the conclusion of this thesis, we will analyze the interviews that we have gathered in order to deduce pieces of advise that would be useful for the teachers who are just beginning their careers in education. The advise should help them make the long-term lesson planning easier and clearer, and it should also show them the advantages of a thorough preparation.

Abstract:

Tématem této diplomové práce je plánování výuky francouzského jazyka z dlouhodobého hlediska. Práce se zpočátku věnuje vysvětlení základních pojmů jako plánování výuky, motivace a potřeby studentů či specifika plánování výuky francouzského jazyka. V druhé části představíme jednu z metod získávání údajů: rozhovor. Tato námi vybraná metoda nám pomůže efektivně získat potřebné informace týkající se dlouhodobého plánování výuky od vyučujících francouzského jazyka. Zaměříme se jak na popis rozhovorů obecně, tak na konkrétní postupy vedoucí ke stanovenému cíli, konkrétně na přípravu rozhovoru, výběr a sestavování otázek k rozhovoru. Zároveň v této části představíme i vybrané vyučující francouzského jazyka, kteří se na výzkumu podíleli. V závěru práce pak budeme analyzovat dané rozhovory s cílem sepsat rady pro začínající učitele francouzského jazyka, které by jim usnadnily dlouhodobé plánování výuky, pomohly odhalit její zákoutí, ale i výhody.
