Toponymic centre and toponymic periphery of the city of Mikulov

Abstract:

Předmětem bakalářské práce je výzkum živé toponymie Mikulova. Cílem výzkumu bylo shromáždit živá vlastní jména, jež jsou aktivně používaná obyvateli města Mikulov, a jejich následné roztřídění v rámci toponymického centra a periferie. Kritériem pro třídění živých toponym je frekvence, tedy četnost jejich výskytu (užití) u respondentů. Kromě toho jsou získaná toponyma analyzována z hlediska motivace a formální stránky. Živá toponyma spolu s jejich bližšími informacemi jsou přehledně zpracována do hesláře. Terénní výzkum byl veden pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Práce je rovněž obohacena o obrazový materiál, který napomáhá pochopit problematiku jednotlivých jmenných variant, a také o mapu s body, jež označují polohu toponymických objektů, pro něž byla vlastní jména sesbírána.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is a field research of popular toponymy conducted in the city of Mikulov, Czech Republic. The aim of the research was to obtain popular toponyms, which are actively used by the citizens of the city of Mikulov, and their subsequent classification into a toponymic centre and a toponymic periphery. The criteria chosen for their classification is frequency, thus the frequency of their occurrence (use) among respondents. Besides, the toponyms gathered during the research are analysed in terms of their motivation and their formal aspects. Popular toponyms collected during the research are introduced in a well-organized list of popular toponyms together with closer information about them. The field research was carried out by semi-structured interviews. This bachelor thesis is also enriched with image material, helping with the understanding of individual name variants, and also with a map with points, illustrating the position of toponymic objects, which the proper names were collected for.
