The relevance of public institutions´ information in Google and Seznam.cz profiles

Abstract:

Údajům uvedeným ve firemních profilech Google a Seznam uživatelé těchto služeb vysoce důvěřují, a ačkoli se jedná o služby určené primárně soukromému sektoru, jsou firemní profily důležitým komunikačním nástrojem pro předávání informací veřejných institucí. Šetření u více než devíti set institucí však ukázalo, že značná část z nich údaje ve firemních profilech sice využívá, ale neaktualizuje a takto předávané údaje veřejnosti jsou často nepřesné. Ukázaly se také velké rozdíly ve správnosti vyplněných údajů, a to jak při porovnání jednotlivých typů institucí, tak při porovnání veřejných institucí podle velikosti a významnosti měst, ve kterých se šetřené instituce nacházejí. V institucích v malých městech byl zjištěný výrazně menší podíl správného vyplnění údajů než v institucích ve městech velkých.

Abstract:

The company profiles on Google and Seznam websites are highly trusted by the users of these services. Although these services are primarily intended for the private sector, company profiles are an important communication tool for information provided by public institutions. However, a survey of more than nine hundred institutions has shown that a significant number of them use data in company profiles but do not update them, so the information provided to the public is often inaccurate. It has also shown significant differences in the accuracy of the filled-in data, both in the comparison of various types of institutions and in the comparision of public institutions based on the size and importance of the cities in which the surveyed institutions are located. In small cities, a significantly lower proportion of correctly filled-in data has been found than in large cities.
