Economic impacts of testing cosmetic products on animals in cosmetic industry of the Czech Republic in 2018

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je analyzovat spotřebitelské preference v závislosti na endogenních a exogenních faktorech na trhu kosmetických produktů s akcentem na testování na zvířatech a šetrnost vůči životnímu prostředí. V teoretické části jsou rozebrány různé pohledy na preference. Hlavním hlediskem je Beckerův koncept stabilních preferencí. Dalšími oblastmi, které jsou obsaženy v teoretické části, jsou poptávka a nabídka, společenská odpovědnost firem, a nakonec udržitelný rozvoj. Praktická část se zaměřuje hlouběji tématem testování na zvířatech s důrazem na kosmetický průmysl. V empirickém segmentu práce je testována hypotéza založena na předpokladu, že spotřebitelé jsou ochotni si připlatit za netestované produkty. Práce ukazuje, že se pohled spotřebitelů postupně mění a důležitým faktorem při výběru zboží je stále více sociální (morální) aspekt. Pro spotřebitele tedy není nejdůležitějším faktorem cena.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze consumer preferences depending on endogenous and exogenous factors on the cosmetic products market with emphasis on animal testing and environmental friendliness. In the theoretical part, different views of preferences are discussed. The main view is Becker's concept of stable preferences. Other areas included in the theoretical part are demand and supply, corporate social responsibility, and finally sustainable development. The practical part focuses more deeply on animal testing with focus on cosmetics industry. Empirical research tests the hypothesis that consumers are willing to pay extra for products that are not tested on animals. The thesis shows that the consumer's perspective is gradually changing and the social (moral) aspect is an important factor in the choice of goods. Therefore, the price is no longer the most important factor for consumers.
