Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je analyzovat historiografii příčin vzniku první světové války. K dosažení tohoto cíle je analyzováno pět knih, které popisují události 19. století a počátku 20. století v Evropě a ve světě. Tyto monografie byly pečlivě vybrány, aby zastupovaly rozdílná stádia historiografie příčin první světové války. Také ukazují rozdílné přístupy historiků a školy, které se za poslední století vyvinuly ve světě, a které analyzovaly příčiny vzniku první světové války. Porovnáváním těchto knih byly nalezeny rozdíly mezi závěry, ke kterým jejich autoři dospěli. Bylo zjištěno, že v některých případech se tyto závěry značně liší. Někde se jedná o drobné rozdíly, ale v některých případech se jedná o zcela zásadní protikladná tvrzení a popisy důležitých událostí. Dalším cílem této práce je upozornit na důležitost užívání kritického myšlení jak při studiu historie, tak při získávání dat z různých jiných zdrojů. Praktickým výsledkem této práce je návrh, jak její závěry využít v hodinách historie a anglického jazyka.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse historiography of the origins of the First World War. To achieve this goal, five monographs which describe European and World events in the nineteenth and early twentieth century are analysed. These books have been carefully chosen to represent different stages of historiographical analyses of the origins of World War I. They present different approaches historians have applied to examine the issue, and different historiography schools which occurred in the last century. By comparing and contrasting these works, differences between findings of the authors are found and analysed. It has been found that interpretations of certain events vary considerably. In some cases, the discrepancies are only minor, however in some cases different monographs describe the important events in contrasting ways. The secondary aim of this work is to emphasize the importance of use of critical thinking for study of history and for gathering data from various sources. The practical result of the research is suggestion of how to use the findings of the research in history and English classes.
