Abstract:

Architektura mikroslužeb je široce používaný přístup k budování škálovatelných aplikací. Budování systému založeného na mikroslužbách představuje pro vývojáře nové výzvy, jako je síťová komunikace, sledovatelnost, trasování a nasazení. Pro efektivní výuku vývoje těchto systémů je zásadní poskytnout studentům materiály pro praktická cvičení. V současné době předmět PV217 Service Oriented Architecture neobsahuje praktická cvičení jako jednu z výukových metod. Tato práce poskytuje komplexní praktické materiály složené z deseti jednotlivých cvičení pro kurz PV217 Service Oriented Architecture a poskytuje studentům další způsob, jak získat zkušenosti s vývojem mikroslužeb. Koncepce cvičení je založena na postupném budování aplikace pro řízení provozu letiště ve frameworku Quarkus. Cvičení se zaměřují na aspekty, jako je komunikace mezi službami, nasazení, konfigurace, monitorování stavu, sběr metrik, odolnost proti chybám a trasování, přičemž využívají reaktivní programování. Návrh materiálů vychází z přehledu již existujících materiálů a osvědčených výukových postupů. Podle hodnocení studentů obsahují cvičební materiály srozumitelné vysvětlení a instrukce a zároveň jsou přiměřeně obtížné. Výsledkem této práce jsou připravená a vyhodnocená cvičení pro vývoj mikroslužeb, která překlenují mezeru mezi teoretickými znalostmi a praktickou aplikací.

Abstract:

Microservices architecture is a widely used approach for building scalable applications. However, building a microservice-based system presents new challenges for developers, such as network communication, observability, tracing, and deployment. To efficiently teach the development of these systems, it is crucial to provide students with practical exercise materials. Currently, the PV217 Service Oriented Architecture course lacks exercises as one of the course’s teaching methods. This thesis prepares comprehensive practical materials of ten individual exercises for the PV217 Service Oriented Architecture course and provides students with another way to obtain experience in microservices development. The concept of exercises is based on the incremental building of an airport operations management application in the Quarkus framework. The exercises focus on aspects such as communication between services, deployment, configuration, health monitoring, metrics collection, fault tolerance, and tracing while utilizing reactive programming. The design of the materials is founded on the review of already existing materials and best teaching practices. According to the evaluation from students, the exercise materials provide solid clarity of explanations and instructions while being appropriately difficult. The outcome of this thesis is prepared and evaluated microservices exercises that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
