Natural geological background in the area of the Nedvědička river

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo zdokumentovat současnou úroveň anorganické kontaminace v toku Nedvědička a jejím okolí. Vzorky byly odebrány na Nedvědičce a jejich přítocích, spolu s vzorkem na řece Hodonínce. Následně byly podrobeny laboratorním analýzám – rentgenové fluorescenční analýze a gamaspektrometrii. Rentgenovou fluorescenční analýzou byl zjištěn vyšší obsah těžkých kovů – převážně zinku a niklu, zapříčiněný antropogenní činností. Gamaspektrometrií byly zjištěny také vyšší obsahy uranu, především v místech souvisejících s jeho těžbou, a thoria, jejichž hodnoty spolu ve většině případech korelují. Zaznamenány byly také vysoké koncentrace cesia, který je produktem rozpadu uranu 235 a jeho zvýšené hodnoty svědčily o přítomnosti staré zátěže. Stupeň obohacení jednotlivých vzorků byl určen pomocí faktoru obohacení. I přes zvýšené hodnoty rizikových prvků se prokázalo, že kontaminace těmito prvky nebyla zjištěna ve významném množství.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to document the current level of anorganic contamination in the flow of Nedvědička and its surroundings. Samples were collected from the river Nedvědička and its tributaries along with a sample from river Hodonínka. They were subsequently subjected to analysis in laboratory – x-ray fluorescence analysis and gamma spectrometry. X-ray fluorescence analysis discovered increased volumes of heavy metals – mostly Zinc and Nickel, caused by anthropogenic aktivity. Gamma spectrometry revealed higher uranium level, especially in locations related to its mining, and Thorium, whose levels correlate in the majority of cases. Registered were also high levels of Cesium, which is a product of Uran 235 decay and its increased concentrations prove presence of old stress. Enrichment level of each sample was determined by enrichment factor. Despite increased readings of risk elements it was shown that contamination with these elements was not found in significant amount.
