Perception of interparental conflicts in middle adolescence and young adulthood

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou vnímání rodičovského konfliktu adolescentem. Cílem bylo zjistit, zda bude rozdíl mezi respondenty v období střední adolescence a mladé dospělosti a mezi těmi, co bydlí celý týden s rodiči a těmi, kteří bydlí přes týden jinde (na internátě, koleji, atd.). Sledovali jsme rozdíl ve vnímání konfliktu a v citové vazbě k rodičům a sourozencům. Jedná se o kvantitativní výzkum, ve kterém byla použita dotazníková metoda k měření kvality vztahu ECR-R (Experience in Close Relationship – Revisited) a k měření vnímání konfliktu adolescentem CPIC (The Children´s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale). Data jsme získali administrací dotazníků od 190 respondentů v období střední adolescence (96) a mladé dospělosti (94). Bylo zjištěno, že střední adolescenti vykazují vyšší míru vnímané intenzity konfliktu, cítí se konfliktem více ohrožení a více se sebeobviňují z jeho vzniku než mladí dospělí. Rozdíl ve vnímání konfliktu mezi adolescenty, bydlícími celý týden s rodiči a těmi, co jsou přes týden jinde, prokázán nebyl. Ukázalo se, že s rostoucí vyhýbavostí k sourozenci roste vnímaná účinnost zvládání konfliktu a čím je vyšší míra úzkostnosti k sourozenci, tím je vyšší míra vnímaného ohrožení a sebeobviňování z konfliktu. S rostoucí úzkostností k rodičům rostla míra ohrožení a triangulace, vyšší míra vyhýbavosti k matce souvisela s vyšší mírou vnímané účinností zvládání. Rozdíl ve kvalitě vztahu s rodiči u různých věkových souborů prokázány nebyly. Adolescenti, kteří bydlí přes týden jinde, než rodiče prokazují vyšší míru vyhýbavosti k matce.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with interparental conflict perecived by middle adolescents and young adults. The aim of this study was to found out, if there is a diference between young adults and middle adolescents and among those who live with parents all week and those who live during the week elsewhere (boarding house, residence, etc.). We observe diference in perception of parentel conflict and attachment with parents and siblings. This study comes out of the quantitative design, we gathered the data from 190 respondents in middle adolescence (96) and young adulthood (94). In our research, we use questionnaire method for measuring of quality of relationship ECR-R (Experience in Close Relationship – Revisited) and for measuring of perception of parentel conflict by adolescent CPIC (The Children´s Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale). It was discovered that middle adolescents show higher level of preceived intensity of conflict, self-blaming and threat of conflict than young adults. Difference in pereception of conflict wasn´t proved between adolescents who live with parents whole week and those who live during the week elsewhere. It shows that higher level of avoidance to sibling is related with higher level of coping of conflict and higher level of anxiety is related with higher level of threat and self-blaming. With rising level of anxiety to parents rise level of threat and triangulation, higher level of avoidance to mother is related with higher level of coping. Statistically significant differences in qualitty of relationship with parents between middle adolescents and young adulthood wasn´t proved. Adolescnets, who live during week elsewhere than parents proved high level of avodiadnce to mother.
