An artist's perspective on 5th Symphony in D minor, Op.47 by Dmitri Shostakovich

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with the Symphony no. 5 by D. Shostakovich, and it tries to analyze it from the perspective of its creation context in era of that time of composers life. It is also analyzing its music form and its interpretation aspects in view of a performer – conductor. Several chapters are dealing with short curiculum vitae of D. Shostakovic, analyze of creation context and historical and social situation, formal analysis of each movement and with some interpretation notes.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá Symfóniou č. 5 D. Šostakoviča, a pokúša sa analyzovať ju z aspektu kontextu vzniku v danom období skladateľovho života, ako aj z formálneho a interpretačného aspektu z pohľadu interpreta – dirigenta. Jednotlivé kapitoly sa postupne venujú stručne životopisu, analýze kontextu vniku a historicko spoločenskej situácie, formovej analýze jednotlivých častí, a interpretačným poznámkam.
