Constructions of almost periodic sequences and functions and homogeneous linear difference and differential systems

Abstract:

Disertační práce se skládá ze čtyř částí. Část 1.: Zavedeme skoroperiodické posloupnosti s hodnotami v pseudometrickém prostoru X a upravíme Bochnerovu definici skoroperiodičnosti tak, aby byla nadále ekvivalentní s Bohrovou definicí. Uvedeme (snadno modifikovatelnou) metodu konstrukcí skoroperiodických posloupností v X. Pomocí této metody nalezneme skoroperiodické posloupnosti s předepsanými hodnotami. Poté ji užijeme ke konstrukci skoroperiodického homogenního lineárního diferenčního systému, který nemá žádné netriviální skoroperiodické řešení. Tuto úlohu přitom budeme řešit v obecném případě - pro prvky matice lineárního systému náležející do okruhu s jednotkou. Část 2.: Budeme uvažovat skoroperiodické homogenní lineární diferenční systémy za podmínky, že zadávající matice náleží do nějaké grupy. Cílem je najít takové grupy, aby systémy, které nemají netriviální skoroperiodická řešení, tvořily hustou podmnožinu množiny všech uvažovaných systémů. Rozbor použitých metod odhaluje, že tuto úlohu lze řešit v takové obecnosti, kdy se připouští, aby prvky zadávajících matic náležely do libovolného tělesa, které je úplným metrickým prostorem. Zavedení pojmů transformovatelných a silně transformovatelných grup matic nám potom umožní odvodit snadno aplikovatelné podmínky pro stanovení, jaké maticové grupy mají požadovanou vlastnost. Část 3.: Definujeme skoroperiodické funkce s hodnotami v pseudometrickém prostoru X. Uvedeme Bohrovu a Bochnerovu definici skoroperiodičnosti, vlastnosti skoroperiodických funkcí a metodu, jak lze konstruovat skoroperiodické funkce v X. Užitím této metody nalezneme skoroperiodické funkce, jejichž obory hodnot obsahují dané podmnožiny X (nebo se jim dokonce rovnají). Část 4.: Pomocí jisté konstrukce ze třetí části dokážeme, že v jakémkoli okolí libovolného skoroperiodického antihermitovského lineárního diferenciálního systému existuje skoroperiodický antihermitovský systém, který nemá žádné netriviální skoroperiodické řešení.

Abstract:

The dissertation thesis consists of four parts. Part 1: We define almost periodic sequences with values in a pseudometric space X and we modify the Bochner definition of almost periodicity so that it remains equivalent with the Bohr definition. We present one (easily modifiable) method for constructing almost periodic sequences in X. Using such a construction, we find almost periodic sequences with prescribed values. Then we apply the method to construct almost periodic homogeneous linear difference systems which do not have any nontrivial almost periodic solution. We treat this problem in a general setting where we suppose that entries of matrices in linear systems belong to a ring with a unit. Part 2: We consider almost periodic homogeneous linear difference systems. We suppose that the coefficient matrices belong to a group. The goal is to find such groups that the systems having no nontrivial almost periodic solution form a dense subset of the set of all considered systems. A closer examination of the used methods reveals that the problem can be treated in such a generality that the entries of coefficient matrices are allowed to belong to any complete metric field. The concepts of transformable and strongly transformable groups of matrices are introduced and these concepts enable us to derive efficient conditions for determining what matrix groups have the required property. Part 3: We define almost periodic functions with values in a pseudometric space X. We mention the Bohr and the Bochner definition of almost periodicity and properties of almost periodic functions. We present a method for constructing almost periodic functions in X. Using this method, we find almost periodic functions whose ranges contain or consist of given subsets of X. Part 4: Applying a construction from Part 3, we prove that, in any neighbourhood of an almost periodic skew-Hermitian linear differential system, there exists an almost periodic skew-Hermitian system which does not possess a nontrivial almost periodic solution.
